The Vigia Hill

For a incredible view of how the mountains meet the sea at Ponce, drive to the summit of El Vigia Hill located in Ponce, where scouts once scanned for attacking ships. Visitors can ascend La Cruz del Vigia, a 100-foot observation tower. Serralles Museum located near to El Vigia Hill, is a lovely landscaped former residence of the Serralles family, producers of Don Q rum.

Museo de Arte de
Ponce

Luis A. Ferre founded the Museo to bring Western art to the Island so Puerto Ricans could know and understand that part of their artistic heritage. Opened to the public in 1959 in a charming traditional house near the central plaza, the collection soon outgrew its home, so Edward Durrell Stone was commissioned to design a new building. The Museo moved into his Work of art housing works of art in 1965. The collection includes fine examples of painting and sculpture from the important schools of European art from the Renaissance to the 20th century, which include pieces by a respectable representation of European artists, like Rubens and Delacroix. Latin American and Puerto Rican artists are also encouraged and their works collected. Recent acquisitions include a 14th century Flemish triptych as well as works by Arnaldo Roche Rabell and Lupe Max Diaz. Open daily 10am-5pm. Franco & Co., Inc. established in 1850, has recently launched its web site. Franco is known for it famous "brazos gitanos" and is considered Mayaguez's favorite food company. The site offers online ordering, now you can order "brazos gitanos" from the comfort of your own home.
The San Juan Star

The San Juan Star has been filling the homes of Puerto Rican's with the daily news since 1959. Originally its objective was to target the English-speaking population in Puerto Rico, but in 1997 El San Juan Star was launched, a Spanish edition of the newspaper. In addition, daily regional newspapers are publish for major cities such as: Ponce, Mayaguez and Arecibo. The San Juan Star has recently launched their corporate web site, but no daily news can be found on the site, which may be considered a contradiction of their mission statement that states the following: "...looking for new ways to provide the best service and cutting-edge innovations."
